Buying A Home: Appraisal

If you are one of the lucky ones able to pay all cash, then picking an appraisal company to do an appraisal on the home you are looking to buy is a prudent decision, but it is not mandatory.  If you are getting a loan like most buyers, the lender typically picks the appraisal company and you have to pay for it.  They should provide you with the full report and you should take time to read through it carefully.  If the appraisal comes in lower than the listing price, you might be able to negotiate a lower purchase price.
